- A debate about typical Slovenian food was prepared in September. Two groups of students made an inquiry on typical food with their parents and prepared the so called “family recipe” following a debate at school. The main theme of Comenius project – typical Slovenian food – was also used for the “European Languages day 2009”. For that day, 26th of September, the selected food was prepared by the students and all the “family recipes” were translated into English, German and French. The translations were made by using Google translator and by using traditional dictionaries. The results are most surprising. Several teachers were involved, to name just three of them (Ms. Sreš, Mrs.Pohar and Mr. Žnidaršič). More info about the project activities is available on blog http://vecerja.wordpress.com.
- The first student exchange with a Belgian school was realised in October. Their program included a workshop about organic food and its tasting (prepared by Mrs. Blažin), a debate about daily sports exercises to keep our body fit (prepared by Mr. Bizilj). The students also watched a documentary film about industrially produced food and held the debate (workshop prepared by Mr. Pohar). A questionnaire on Eating habits and exercising was prepared. Data collecting and statistic analysis were provided by students (under supervision of Mrs. Policar). More on http://vecerja.wordpress.com.
- The second student exchange with a school from Pamplona was prepared in February. Their program also included a workshop about organic food (see above) and a chemistry workshop on detecting heavy metals in potatoes (Mrs. Lampret). Mrs. Lampret invented completely new experiments that can be used in secondary schools.
- The students also chose a typical Slovenian dish, translated the recipe into English and prepared it in the school kitchen. All the activities were filmed and documented by taking photos. They also translated our mini dictionary. Also the calorific table was prepared.
- On second coordinators’ meeting in Pamplona partners made some consideration on tasks and changing of responsibilities of each partners. We (Slovenians) took over collecting of data of all the partners and making a complete statistic analysis. The Belgians would prepare the mini cookery book including a small dictionary of culinary terms.
- In order to disseminate our project results and to make our project more visible, a school blog was opened (http://vecerja.wordpress.com). So any visitor can leave his or her comments on our written articles and published photos and video clips.
