1.) Tell us something about your first impression on Sunday.
It was a bit strange and scary to get into a car with strange people they gave us a warm welcome in the family. Although we were very tired, it was nice that we got to see Ljubljana, by day and by night.
2.) What do you think about sport activities on Monday?
It was fun but these activities showed the difference between Belgians, who are very strict, and Slovenes, who are very loose. Both Slovenes and Belgians are active in sports.
3.) Is Slovenian language difficult to learn? (Monday)
Yes, it is very difficult to learn because of the cases and the pronunciation is really different than in Dutch.
4.) Do you like better that the exchange includes trips or would like to have more activities at school with your exchange students? (Tuesday and Thursday)
It was really nice to have some variation. We liked the trips very much because we got to see more from Slovenia except from Ljubljana.
5.) What did you like the most on Tuesday?
We liked Piran the most because we had a very nice view on the sea. The caves were very interesting and impressive to see. The horses in Lipica were beautiful but we expected to see them more.
6.) How much did you remember about our architect Plečnik? Do you think that you know more about Ljubljana now?
He used columns in most of his works because he wanted to make Ljubljana a neo-classical city. But there was never enough money because his projects were too grand. He made very wide bridges because he wanted them to be social, political and economical meeting places. It was interesting but it would have been better if the tour had been longer.
7.) Did you find the workshops interesting? (Wednesday)
The math workshop was confusing because the explanation was in Slovene. The other two workshops were quite interesting but the language was the problem there as well.
8.) Would you like to meet Slovene students more personally or do you like working with “statistics” (reports)? (Friday)
Maybe some active investigation would have been nicer.
9.) Describe generally how you spent this week with us, what would you change, would you add something? How do you understand the concept “exchange”?
It was very interesting to get to know the culture of Slovene teenagers. We would like better if the students and teachers spoke English the whole time.
In Belgium we will have intercultural evenings at school. It would have been nicer if we had an evening like that here as well.
We understand the concept “exchange” as we experienced it.
